MTN Users Gets Free 1GB for Newly Launched VoLTE Service

MTN has released a new service called the voice over LTE service or could also be called VoLTE which was launched the day before yesterday, September the 23rd in South Africa. This is service that intends to offer customers better call experience when it comes to phone calls.This is being marketed as High definition (HD) voice and it is only compatible with selected smartphones.

“SUPPORTING OUR DRIVE FOR TECHNOLOGY EXCELLENCE, THE HD VOICE SERVICE WILL ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO BENEFIT FROM VOICE CALLS IN CLEAR, NATURAL-SOUNDING HD VOICE ON MTN’S LTE NETWORK, COUPLED WITH A FASTER CALL CONNECTION TIME,” THE MOBILE OPERATOR SAID IN A STATEMENT ON THURSDAY.

How To Enable VoLTE On Your Phone

For you to enable this service, customers are required to update their smartphones with the latest software update, after which their device will be automatically configured with support for HD Voice.

MTN promised to give qualified customers a complementary 1GB of data that can be used for the software update, when they want to use the new VoLTE service.

After getting the latest software update, their smartphone will automatically be enabled with the service.

The mobile operator said the introduction of VoLTE services will be carried out in two phases.

Starting in September, the first phases will support Samsung S8 and S8+, Huawei P20 Lite, Sony Xperia XZ2, and CAT S61 devices.
The second phase will be rolled out from October and will include support for additional smartphones.

The introduction of VoLTE will be carried out in a two-phased approach. The second Phase will take place in October which will enable more smartphone users to access HD Voice service.

Phase one will be available from September for the following devices; Samsung S8 & S8+, Huawei P20 Lite, Sony Xperia XZ2 and CAT S61 users to the service.

According to the telco, when you are using the service, your device will be enabled and HD Voice calls will be billed according to normal price plan rates.
