A very simplified phone is here. It is called the Light Phone 2 and it is a feature smartphone which is meant to make life simple. The main reason for this phone is so as to provide an alternative to your smartphone. This means that you can leave your phone at home and still have a little gadget for attending to your calls and messages. But the major question for today is why this simple phone costs $400?.
The original Light Phone lacks the features common to our phone, features like apps, e-mail, text messaging, multimedia support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, camera, or even a screen to display text. And it cost $150, which is pricey enough for such limited functionality.
Features Of The Light Phone 2
The Light Phone 2 improves on its predecessor and will support text messaging (SMS), an alarm clock, and 4G LTE, in addition to phone calls. The display is a simple black and white matte affair. The manufacturer also says that the ability to get “a ride home” via a ride sharing partnership may be included in the phone, “if it makes sense”.
New features on the Light Phone 2 include: a custom high resolution E-Ink screen, larger microphone and speaker, USB-C, proximity sensor and the up and down buttons.
Other features that are yet to be confirmed include Bluetooth, an aluminum casing, and waterproofing.
